Nic Davidson (He/Him) is a twenty two year old Meanjin/Gubbi Gubbi based interdisciplinary performance practitioner. His practice involves playwriting, performance, directing, and creative producing. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama) From the Queensland University of Technology (QUT, 2024). During his studies, he engaged with collaborative performance frameworks, and established a deep interest in contemporary experimental performance forms, particularly through both post-dramatic performances and experimental, provocative practices within traditional storytelling narratives. Primarily working as a playwright, Davidson's debut play Crow's Nest had a sell out season as a part of the 2025 Brisbane Anywhere Festival, and was a finalist for the Anywhere Award for Theatre. His work was also featured in the performance art piece 'Antifreeze Journal 1' by Antifreeze. Most recently, Davidson was chosen alongside nineteen other emerging playwrights from across Australia to partake in the prestigious National Studio Residency Program held by the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP). His work from this residency, Begin To Glow, was selected among nine others and will be published by Currency Press in 2026, with performances at the Rebel Theatre in Sydney as a part of the 2026 Intersection Festival. Nic is currently developing his next play Strangeways, Here We Come through the LunchPunk Playwriting Development Program. Davidson is the creative director of The Velvet Collective, whom were recently nominated for the Billie Brown Best Emerging Artist Matilda Award for their production of Crow's Nest. The Collective looks to produce classic Western and European avant-garde works in a contemporary, iconoclastic lens to evaluate both the human condition and the values and institutions of the past, of which have neither budged nor changed. He will make his directorial debut with FIREFACE this year.
